The playbook

The run starts read-only: the recon probes decide what happens next. The steps that follow are adapted to the distribution and state found — a real machine is rarely clean.

  1. 01recondistro, version and package manager (apt or dnf)
  2. 02reconDocker Engine + compose plugin present and running? (otherwise, docker step)
  3. 03reconodoo already deployed (containers, volumes, /opt/odoo)? healthy → verify and skip; never overwrite its data
  4. 04reconlocal port 8069 free? is a reverse proxy already on 80/443?
  5. 05reconRAM ≥ 2 GB and ≥ 10 GB of disk
  6. 06actInstall Docker Engine + Compose (only if missing)verify
  7. 07actGenerate the secrets (/opt/odoo/.env)verify
  8. 08actWrite odoo.conf (generated master password)verify
  9. 09actWrite /opt/odoo/compose.yamlverify
  10. 10actStart the stackverify
  11. 11actResponds over HTTPverify
  12. 12actHTTPS reverse proxy (only if a domain is provided)verify

What it verifies

Each step ships its own check. The run only moves on when the check passes, so what the recipe reports as done is what is actually on the server.

  1. 01Install Docker Engine + Compose (only if missing)Verified bysystemctl is-active docker && docker compose version
  2. 02Generate the secrets (/opt/odoo/.env)Verified bystat -c '%a' /opt/odoo/.env && grep -c '=' /opt/odoo/.env
  3. 03Write odoo.conf (generated master password)Verified bystat -c '%a %u' /opt/odoo/config/odoo.conf && grep -c admin_passwd /opt/odoo/config/odoo.conf
  4. 04Write /opt/odoo/compose.yamlVerified bydocker compose -f /opt/odoo/compose.yaml config -q && echo ok
  5. 05Start the stackVerified bydocker compose -f /opt/odoo/compose.yaml ps --status running --format "{{.Service}}"
  6. 06Responds over HTTPVerified bytimeout 180 bash -c 'until curl -s -o /dev/null http://127.0.0.1:8069/web/database/selector; do sleep 5; done'; curl -s -o /dev/null -w '%{http_code}' http://127.0.0.1:8069/web/database/selector
  7. 07HTTPS reverse proxy (only if a domain is provided)Verified bycurl -s -o /dev/null -w '%{http_code}' https://${domain}/

Guardrails

Non-negotiable instructions the run must respect, whatever it finds on the server.

DB password in /opt/odoo/.env and master password in /opt/odoo/config/odoo.conf (600), never shown in clear in logs. Do not recreate or delete an existing database. Odoo listens on 127.0.0.1; exposure goes through the HTTPS reverse proxy.

How a recipe runs in Servor

Servor is zero-knowledge: the platform cannot execute anything on its own. When you launch this recipe, a run reads the reconnaissance, plans the steps and asks for your approval. Each approved command is signed by your browser — with a key the server never sees — then relayed verbatim to the agent, which verifies the signature locally before executing.

actinstall fail2ban · write default jails✓
actenable service · restart sshd (safe)✓
verifytest ban 60s · jails active · sshd alive✓

search by intent — type “firewall”, get ufw

  • 01Read-only reconnaissance before any change
  • 02Every command signed by your browser, approved by you
  • 03Each step verified before the run moves on, every run kept in the history
